What:
The AMF Bowling World Cup is the largest annual international sports
championship in the world in terms of number of participating nations.
Eight-eight countries were represented at the 2000 edition in Lisbon, Portugal.
When:
November 4 -10, 2001

P.S. Bowling (Pattaya) Co. Ltd., host center (32 lanes)
Who:
Men and women amateur champions from around the world compete on an
individual basis for sterling silver trophies and one of the most prestigious
individual titles in international bowling. Tomas Leandersson of Sweden and Mel
Isaac of Wales are the men and women's defending champions, respectively.
How:
Bowlers advance to the AMF Bowling World Cup by winning their national
qualifying tournament. Defending champions must re-qualify through their home
countries to be able to defend their titles the following year.
Format:
Singles (individual) competition, featuring five blocks of eight
qualifying games (24 games for the entire field, and 16 additional games for the
top 24 men and women after 24 games); top eight men and women after 40 games are
seeded according to qualifying scores and advance to best-two-of-three-games
single-elimination matches to determine the champions. Single-elimination phase
will be held in an arena setting in Pattaya.
