QubicaAMF World Cup – Quali-Ende Damen

Brittni Hamilton of the USA gave another exhibition of wonderfully consistent bowling in the final qualifying squad of the women’s section of the 50th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup in Wroclaw, Poland. At the end of the 20 games she is in pole position on 4484 pinfall, a 224.2 average, and that with a high game of 260.  Brittni was cautious about her chances afterwards. “There are still lots of games to go,” she said, “so I need to look forward and not back and concentrate over the next stages of the event.” Liza del Rosario from the Philippines, who came second in 2001 in Pattaya, Thailand, is 45 pins behind (4439) in second while Clara Juliana Guerrero from Colombia has moved up to third on 4412. Amandine Jacques from France needed a 170 in the last game to make it through to the next round, and she hit 189. Her mother, Pepita, finished in 17th in Beijing in 1991, in the days when only 16 qualified for round two. “So I have made it further than Mum,” said Amandine, “but I now need to move up and finish in 16th so I can really say that I have beaten her!” The unlucky player to miss out was Kylie Bromley of Wales who finished 19 pins behind in the unenviable position of 25th. The overall average for the women is 188.92. The next stage is a further eight games to determine the top eight who will go through to the round robin stage of the tournament. At present Daria Kovalova of the Ukraine is in eighth on 4314, ahead of Martina Schütz of Germany on 4303. Defending Champion Caroline Lagrange of Canada is in 13th place on 4285 with double champion from 2010 and 2011, Aumi Guerra of the Dominican Republic, is in 17th on 4246.
